This custom built solid dark walnut and painted red deal cut string (where the treads extends over the side of the staircase), is really striking in this bright hallway. This client opted to use the walnut everywhere their foot or hand touches the stairs, giving a lovely balance between the dark walnut and the painted cream red deal.
They used a large base step followed by a bullnose step which makes a beautiful feature at the start of this stairs. By using a walnut pyramid cap on the square chamfered newel post adds to the appeal of these posts. They also chose to use scotia moulding just under each tread, giving the tread a much deeper appearance.
